Colosseo Tour
(Colosseum)

*The skip the line tours, 'seemingly by scalpers' go for €30euro and they offer up to €3 discount. Regular retail tickets are priced at €12 and both ticket offered grants one entry to the Roman forum as well as Palatine on the same or subsequent day.

Normal queuing started at 1235hrs and we got in by 1300hrs. Only 25mins! The lines seemed long but it really isn't as it branches out to, ticket purchasers, Pre-bought and 'scalper' tours. So, just queue for tickets and save yourself the money!* April2017 Addon.

Worth every waiting min and the entry charge of €12. We queued for the standard ticketing, not wanting to go for scalper tickets. The wait was for approximately 40mins to get in. There was an audio guide at an additional €5 which we purchased and found not worth it. (Only 6 audio points to select from.)

The plaques around the colosseum were more than sufficient to give us the insights of this magnificent standing structure. Plus the countless tours going around, you pick up a couple of interesting points along the way.
There is an additional, optional charge of €7 (which we didn't go for) for the lower and upper levels of the Colosseum which from observations we found not worth. For the lower levels, tourists weren't even allowed to walk amongst the catacombs and the upper levels seems to give you a vantage view point from very limited limited sections of the colosseum.
The era of the selfie sticks

Altare Della Patria &
Basilica di Santa Maria in Ara coeli
Take a brief look inside of this massive structure. Not a whole lot on going, but there is a €7 option to take the spiral lift to the top for a view of the city. Connected behind, was an absolutely beautiful church (Basilica di Santa Maria in Ara coeli) that's not to be missed.
Bold seagull that would pose for selfies.
